|
Runnin' of the Irish, is approaching it's 4th year and there are many reasons that people continue to come back year after year. Whether it be the pre and post race activities and games, the costumes, the live music or the sponsor booths.
The race starts on the road traveling on one of the newest and cleanest roads in Effingham just outside the Effingham Performance Center. The performance center provides plenty of restrooms and parking for participants and spectators, as well as providing the venue for the pre and post race. The race course features signs designed to keep every athlete on path each mile marker and turn easily visible by all participants. The race is held on portions of Effingham City and County roads as well as on the TREC Trails, a beautiful paved trail system featuring new bridges and trail additions.
The volunteers are top grade as well with some helping to receive donations for the St.Jude Runners (Mattoon to Peoria), our finish line crew are no strangers to racing either, we use St. Anthony High School Cross Country Runners to pass water and medals to our finishers as they finish the race. The Cheer section will definitely not be empty at this race, spectators can earn noisemakers and make CHEER SIGNS, to personalize for their friends and loved ones as well as cheer alongside the St. Anthony High School Cheerleaders.
So don't miss out, make the first race of the season the best race of the season... Runnin' of the Irish.
